Shift-work guide

How to create a useful shift timesheet

A useful timesheet starts with complete shift records. Record each shift consistently, review the selected period and export the format that matches what you need to share or archive.

1. Record each shift clearly

Keep the work date, start time, end time, job and unpaid break together. For overnight work, confirm that the end time belongs to the next day.

2. Check the reporting period

Choose the same week, month or custom date range used by the person receiving the timesheet. Watch for payroll cut-offs that do not match calendar weeks.

3. Review hours before exporting

Look for missing shifts, duplicates, cancelled work and incorrect breaks. Compare the total hours with your roster or notes before relying on the export.

4. Choose PDF or CSV

Use PDF when you need a readable summary. Use CSV when you need rows that can be sorted or reviewed in spreadsheet software. Keep the source records so later corrections remain possible.
